This talk will briefly provide a status update on the Origami-EC
project. The Origami Embedded Controller firmware (Origami-EC) is a
flexible free software embedded controller firmware implementation for
8051-based platforms. While the source code for the project is public
and available, it was not publicly announced yet. It was however already
introduced to the coreboot community during the 2016 coreboot conference
in San Francisco.
This status update will mostly focus on the advancement of the project
in supporting the G505s laptop from Lenovo. It will also highlight the
most immediate envisioned future developments for its support and the
support of other devices. A word will also be said about the project's
orientation and especially its public announcement.
